Regardless of the day, holiday or no, pans must be scooped and fresh food and water prepared. But most importantly, time should be spent with the four legged crew.

This requires that my numbers stay small as I must accomplish this independently. Ed has his cattle to herd and other chores to do. He certainly helps out while I'm at shows, but the cattery is my undertaking, thus my responsibility.

And speaking of responsibility; it is with great awareness that I make the decision to breed these cats. It becomes my up most duty to find loving homes for the kitties that are produced by my design. Not only must the home be warm and inviting but it must have the resources to accommodate the usual and sometimes unusual health issues that inevitably will arise.

Health issues do arise. I've been most fortunate to be working with excellent healthy cats. However, as one cannot know the future, one cannot know all that may challenge us. So far, the health complaints have been minor. That doesn't necessarily mean minor in cost or headaches, but not life threatening. Of course, if you stay with this endeavor long enough, I'm sure the sad phone call may come one night.  I don't relish that at all.

However, the delight I receive back from my many photos of healthy, loved four legged family members fills a very deep need in my being to nurture those I find in my life. The people that obtain my cats become part of the "farm family".
